Alt Text:
The ad from Miles Chemical Company demonstrated a white barrel labeled “DIAZYME” and there is a turquoise background. The headline on the right side says that now it‘s easier to produce 106 pounds of glucose than to produce 89 pounds. The advertisement promoted Diazyme and other enzymes as a more effective way to convert starch with a lower cost.

DIAZYME®
NOW
it's easier to get
106 pounds of dextrose
than it is to get
89 pounds
Not only easier . . . less expensive. Using the acid starch conversion technique, the average dextrose yield is 89 lbs. per 100 lbs. starch.
Using a combination of HT-1000 (for liquefaction) and Diazyme® (a potent new amyloglucosidase enzyme) the average yield is 105-107 lbs. dextrose to 100 lbs. starch.
If you convert starch by the ton, you'll find that every sixth ton is “bonus” with the HT-1000/Diazyme method.
Incidentally, enzyme conversion is less expensive to begin with. You need no acid-resistant pressure reactors, purification and evaporation equipment.
Interested in only partial conversion? Flavor enhancers? Time and work savers? Well, there's:
Special Diastase: Reduces drying time and imparts flavor in cereal production.
Dextrinase®: A fungal amylase used for the production of non-crystallizing high DE syrups.
HT-44® & HT-440®: Extremely heat stable liquefying enzymes. Ideal for the brewing industry. There are many more.

Observation:
The focus of this advertisement is to emphasize efficiency and lowering the cost of production rather than making the food attractive. The advertisement is promoting that Diazyme can improve the conversion rate of starch and increase the production of glucose. This ad is clearly aiming for food companies, especially those who are dealing with starch, syrups, brewing, cereal production. That enzyme is a tool to increase productivity with less cost and workforce.
