The trouble with a fragrance or flavor that comes from a lemon is the lemon. It’s not that natural lemon oil isn’t good. It’s just that our synthesized lemon oil is produced under conditions which avoid the problems of availability, variable composition, and occasional impurities. Our lemon oils contain only those constituents which are found in Mother Nature’s very best. So lemon oil from Glidden Organics Terpene Products Group is always consistent with flavor and fragrance characteristics which will not vary from batch to batch… season to season. We always have a constant, high quality supply which is available at a stable price you can afford. And the same goes for our Synthesized Essential Oils of lime, bergamot, peppermint, nutmeg, spearmint, cinnamon, and tomato. If you’d like some samples that won’t go sour on you, write: Glidden Organics, Terpene Products Group, P.O. Box 389, Jacksonville, Florida 32201.

(Marjan Stuckart)
the use of imperfect lemons, in contrast to the countless other advertising images of perfect foods, to highlight their variability as a negative, is an excellent marketing strategy. the fact that the lemons are not completely rotten, just slightly mottled, furthers the illusion that a processed, synthesized lemon oil is superior to them in a subtle but very effective manner.
