In your R&D work, try Du Pont’s solid, odorless, water-soluble, acidic oxidizer.
(chemical structure of Oxone)
Try our Oxone® Monopersulfate.
It’s an unusual oxidizer. Easy to handle, odorless, solid. A proprietary stable compound that contains potassium monopersulfate.
Oxidation potential of Oxone is somewhat lower than permanganates or hypochlorite, but is higher than peracetic acid, dichromates, hydrogen peroxide or perhydrates. And when it reacts, its decomposition products are innocuous salts. No DOT label is required, either. No wonder it’s a preferred ingredient in denture cleansers, diaper washes, scouring powders and swimming pool clarifiers.
Use your imagination.
You may be surprised at what Oxone can do for you. Here are some idea-starters:
• Combine Oxone with halides to form free or in situ halogen, or combine it with ketones to enhance oxidizing power.
• Mix Oxone under acidic conditions. It remains stable at low pH.
• It is soluble in water, water-ethanol, water-acetic acid.
• In organic reactions, Oxone yields hydroxyl radicals and sulfate ion-radicals.
• Substitute Oxone for chlorine oxidants that cause problems, such as residual chlorine, chlorinated organic by-products, chloride-corrosion, etc.
• It can displace properties of organic peroxy acids, as well as inorganic peroxygen compounds.
