Outline of a chemical glass flask, it is filled up to the middle in an orange red color with a cross like symbol, below the symbol is a chemical name: 1,5,9-Cyclododecatriene, flanking both sides are dark grey and light grey lines, the flask sits on top of a light grey circle

#Du Pont’s 12-carbon cyclic triene offers your R&D new ways to make bigger and better molecules.
combine three non-conjugated double bonds, a large ring and 99%-plus purity, and you have strong reasons for evaluating the many possibilities of DuPont’s 1,5,9-Cyclododecatriene (CDDT).
The double bonds in this unusual cycloolefin undergo typical reactions, including addition, polymerization, hydrogenation and epoxidation. You can open the ring of retain it, in synthesizing large molecules ranging from fragrances and cosmetics to polymers and copolymers.
CDDT is also used in the manufacture of flame retardants for elastomers, polyurethances, plastics, and paper products. And it’s worth looking into as a cross-linking agents for sealants and adhesive.
Du Pont is ready to supply you with commercial quantities as soon as you wish-for evaluation, pilot projects or commerical production.

[additional notes]
what does cyclododecatrieneoffer for the industry?
used as an essential chemical for adhesives, coatings
can only be produced through a complex chemical process that food industrialists may not know how to do: therefore, Du Pont is ready to assist with that struggle
used in plastics as well
the plastic can then be more durable and flexible
used for fragrances to have a scent last longer ultimately enhacing the experience for consumers
the capability of the chemical to be able to be combined with other compounds: makes it easier and more accessible with chemicals already used in the industry
Polymerization:links small molecules together to make a long chain of polymers which can then be used for plastics used by the food industry
Hydrogenation: adds hydrogen to a compound and saturates carbon bonds, an unstaurated fat can be turned into a staurated fat and increase its melting point: very useful for foods to undergo this conversion
Epoxidation: chemical reaction which converts carbon-carbon double bod into epoxides
the flexibility of this molecule allows for multiple uses in different industries
plastic products: helps with the packaging industry that many food companies are a part of
What is a cross-linking agent"?
the slogan at the end reminds me of the Sanders reading in which chemists are trying to find the ‘sweetspot’ of making something already used but reforming its contents to become the ‘intermediate’ that they describe in the ad
Themes: variance, efficiency, transformative properties, mastery over chemicals, durability, flexibility, longevity, experimentation, slight alteration
