a black-and-white photograph of a silver spoon of white powder, labeled “SYLOID silica” on a sign sticking out of it by a toothpick, takes up the majority of the page below the advertisement title. The title appears in large, bold white font on the black background which fades to grey where the spoon is situated towards the page’s bottom.

SYLOID silica
It only takes a little SYLOID anti-caking silica to keep a lot of powder dry and free-flowing. It traps moisture in millions of internal pores while its finely-divided particles cling to your particles to prevent caking caused by compression and tackiness. SYLOID is accepted by the FDA and meets NF (USP) and FCC requirements. So whatever kind of powder you’re producing, add 0.25 to 1.0% of SYLOID silica to streamline production and boost shelf life.

[additional notes]
(Marjan Stuckart)
the comparison of one teaspoon of their Syloid silica powder to four-hundred teaspoons of a company’s powder caking is extremely effective marketing.
was it simply cheaper to print in black-and-white as opposed to color or was the choice to omit color intentional for dramatic effect?
