Menhaden fish oil gains FDA approval for food use.
MENHADEN FISH OIL
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently confirmed what we've believed
all along . . . that menhaden fish oil is a safe, wholesome ingredient you can use with confidence to create perfect baked goods and other quality food products.
In affirming Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS)
status to hydrogenated menhaden oil (FHMO) and partially hydrogenated menhaden oil (PHMO), the FDA has now made it possible for you to include these products in soft spreads and solid cooking fats used to make bread, pastries, cake, cookies, crackers, biscuits, imitation creams and emulsifiers.
These products have a pleasant flavor and odor comparable to other edible oils used in shortenings and foods. And they are economical, costing less than many other
oils, including soybean oil.
Zapata Haynie Corporation is the leader in harvesting and processing menhaden to produce fish oil and protein. Our fish oil refinery, which is the only one of its kind in North America, will refine and bleach, winterize and deodorize a high-quality, homogeneous product to meet your specific needs.
