I think the aesthetics are especially interesting, as this advertisement sells race and class dynamics. The individuals are clearly white, but there is a certain class aesthetic tied to their whiteness. The boat, the sort of New England Coast, the nautical, Ralph Lauren-esque style: there is a clear class indicator that doesn’t encompass all of white America at this time.
