Petrolatums are highly refined, very pure, two-phase colloidal systems or gels consisting of high molecular weight hydrocarbon oils dispersed in microcrystalline waxes. 

While similar, highly refined materials are scarce and soaring in price, petrolatums are available in quantity. And they’re versatile. 

Maybe they can do a job for you that nobody has even thought of…yet. And maybe petrolatums can move right in and replace those hard-to-get materials and at lower cost.
