This advertisement is the introduction to a several page series introducing National’s novel fat replacement system, which uses several fat mimetics to achieve the "most comprehensive” system, perfecting low fat and calorie content while maintaining texture and flavor. This ad from 1992 shows the extreme interest food manufacturers had in the fat mimetic industry. It also exemplifies the rapid turnaround from the introduction of single ingredient FDA approved fat mimetics in 1990 to multi-ingredient comprehensive systems only two years later.
