It is clear that Grindstead wants to emphacize the quality of their product. This is shown though the imagery behind a “sophisticated” cow which has been dressed up in what Western society would associate with an individual of class. This is also highlighted in the ad itself where they make it a point to mention that what sets them apart from other producers of Delta Lactones are their willingness to go out of their way to support their customers, and improve their products. Initially, I did not know what a Delta Lactone was but after a quick google search I have learned that they are a very vertasile product that can be used to slow acidification, as a leveling agent, a coagulant, an acidifier, as a preservative, and in gluten/vegan products. I was surprised buy the versatility of this product and its inclusion in vegan products implies that there is no actual dairy in the additive which would explain the verbage at the start of the body of this ad. Judging by the ad’s body it seems as though the intention behind this product is to serve as an additive which would reduce the cost of products containing dairy by reducing the amount of dairy in them, essentially artificially replicating the same textures, tastes and appearance of common dairy products. I found this ironic considering the image they chose to include was that of a cow. It also reminded me of some of the “ice cream” treats I have seen at the grocery store which are required to be labeled as a “frozen dairy dessert” because they do not contian enough milk fat (at least 10%) to meet the legal definition of ice cream.
