Themes: mass producing inexpensive items, snack stability, preservatives, portable, convenience, availability, social leisure, suburban family
History:
during 1969 America had immerse themselves in the snacking culture as companies were able to advertise on television to children and families to eat snacks alongside their suburban lifestyle
snacking as a form of leisure and fun
supermakrkets were packed with portable foods for children and families on the go
eating for travel, school, and home lifestyle
snacks became quick and easy and the perfect thing to eat when a meal is not readily available
-The image is clever in putting the lettering with snow on top of it, to demonstate that these snacks will be able to be in the feezer now, one can take a snack without hving to worry about it in the fridge aand eventually getting old, time of the food lasts longer
The ad itself touches on new ways that the market is being able to serve snacks for a more durable time which is in aluminum that can be ‘zippered’ or with ‘tab pulls’
built in tools for the consumer to eat these foods easily and without a hassle
alludes to the American market: where snacks have become a pivotal food to eat and sell fast b/c of how quick and easy they are to eat
This ad does not necessarily emphasize the aluminum itself but what it can do for those who want to eat foods that are stored in it such as : go to parties, picnic noshes, and for small additions to mundane snacks like crackers/sandwich bread
-demonstration of the snack taking over the meal
-appeal to ‘children’ and ‘grownups’ which is the same appeal that was seen in the previous journals, where there were typically images of children and adults being happy with the consumption of particular food products
However, this image does not show those children and grownups, but the easy methods embedded in the tins/zippers
something that was not found in the other journals I have read thus far
more emphasis on a smaller portable option
