Profit is promoted extensively in this ad. It is particularly interesting that the ad notes that more women will be entering the workforce, and thus, presents the perfect opportunity for this product (i.e. Redi-Serve). Not only does this give insight into society at the time, but may also explain why a woman (in working attire no less) is depicted in the ad happily holding the Redi-Serve can. The ad is likely trying to convey to other companies that it can make products appealing to working women and other groups, thereby increasing those companies’ profits.
Unlike the other American Can Company ad in this journal that I’ve seen, which focused only on services, this ad included a picture and described a specific product.
