In our garden of esters there’s an acetate product waiting to sweeten or florally modify most any compound you have in mind. As with all Union Camp terpene and aroma chemicals, our acetates are of unusually high quality. They have the kind of consistency, purity and stability that you’ll really appreciate.
And because Union Camp is a basic manufacturer of acetates, you are assured of getting the exact product and the supply you want when you want it. If, along the way, you’d like a helping hand, our technical service people are ready to provide assistance that will culminate in success.
The next time you wish to achieve success in sweetening or modifying your floral creation, put Union Camp to the acetate test. Citronellyl, Geranyl, Linalyl, Neryl, Nopyl, Dihydroterpinyl, or Terpinyl — we have the acetate that’s perfect for you.

This is the second ad that I have found for Union Camp. Both ads have used a photograph of the end product placed over a colorful background with a slogan related to the product.
Both ads rely on natural imagery and commonly known end products to promote their chemicals. The bouquet of flowers visually suggests that scent originates directly from nature, even though the product being promoted consists of industrially manufactured acetate esters used to construct or modify fragrances. “Garden of esters” merges botanical language with chemical terminology. Chemistry is framed as a tool that allows formulators to design nature itself.
There is also an implicit assumption that scent is modular and engineerable. Individual acetate compounds are presented like ingredients in a palette, enabling perfumers or product developers to assemble desired sensory effects.
Union Camp was involved in many different aspects of the chemical industry, from paper production to fragrences to food. Acquired in 1982, the same year this ad was published, Union Camp’s subsidiary, Bush Boake Allen, was one of the world’s leading producers of aroma chemicals and compounders of flavors and fragrances.
