## Germall II
## Germaben II
Germall II and Germaben II, the latest developments in cosmetic preservatives from Sutton, are safe, easy to use, and cost-effective.
Germall II, the latest and most active member of the Germall family of preservatives from Sutton Laboratories, Inc. offers a new broader range of antimicrobial activity. In the laboratory and in the field, Germall II has been proven to be highly effective against gram-negative bacteria, including mutated types, and a wide range of other microbial contaminants. These include gram-positive bacteria, yeast and mold,
in addition to various strains of Pseudomonas and other troublesome “house organisms.”
Germall II is colorless, odorless, and stable. It can be used over a wide pH range, providing a host of advantages that make it ideal for all cosmetic products requiring preservation. Germall II is:
unaffected by nonionic surfactants, ethoxylated compounds or proteins.
compatible with other cosmetic ingredients.
highly water soluble and oil insoluble, providing an oil/water partition favorable for preserving emulsions.
more cost-effective than other preservatives currently available for shampoos, creams and lotions.
toxicologically safe for leave-on and wash-off products.
safe to handle in plant production.
Germaben II is a complete broad-spectrum preservative in clear liquid form. It is convenient to handle, and effective in shampoos, liquid soaps, creams, and lotions. Liquid Germaben II combines Germall II with methylparaben, propylparaben, and propylene glycol in optimum proportions. It therefore has all the advantages of Germall II plus the added advantages of parabens and the convenience of being in liquid form. Germaben II eliminates the problems associated with incorporating solid parabens into cosmetic formulations, giving a distinct cost advantage by effecting economies in labor, time and energy consumption.
Germaben II can be incorporated at any stage of cosmetic formulation over a wide pH range, and is effective even in the presence of proteins, soluble collagens, aloe, plant and herb extracts. Its liquid form permits cold formulation of shampoos, soaps and other cosmetic products. It is also excellent for the preservation of aqueous solutions of anionic and amphoteric surfactants and hydrolyzed animal proteins.

HL/GKB: borrowing language from antimicrobial world—”broad-spectrum”—to describe a preservative function in cosmetics.
Chiara Benedetti:
Why the duality of the spray bottle, with one reflecting a rainbow while the other reflects white light? Is it referring to the visible light spectrum?
Germall II + Germaben II combined for optimal antifungal activity.
Diazolidinyl urea = antimicrobial preservative used in cosmetics, acts as a formaldehyde releaser (extends shelf life + prevents microbial growth)
